Syntronik 2
The new version of the Syntronik collection adds 11 legendary synthesizers for a total of 33. IK Multimedia uses a combination of sampling and modelling to give you fantastically authentic sound and genuine manipulation.
In the new roster of interesting and hard to come by in real life synthesizers are the Octave Cat, Yamaha GS-1, Korg DW-8000 and Trident, Waldorf Microwave, Oberheim Matrix-12 and OB-1, OSCar, Prophet-VS, Moog Source and Synergy ii+. It’s an interesting mix of analogue and digital machines with appropriate looking interfaces that fit into the Syntronik back end.
Let’s check it out with Jordan Rudess.
Each synth has a “Wave set” which is a library of different oscillator sounds taken from the original oscillators. These include Drift technology that introduces that vintage feel of inaccurate tuning and circuit wobble. The new editor lets you bring different oscillators from different synths together to form your own hybrid synthesizer – or you can work on the synths individually in their own GUI.
Along with the new synths we also get more filter types, more LFOs and envelopes, more modelled effects and a large modulation matrix that can work over 4 layers of synthesizer parameters. It comes with over 200GB of sound content which you can enjoy as you browse through the 5,500 presets.
Syntronik is an immense collection of synths and audio processing that also gives you the opportunity to blend and blur the boundaries between them. The interface can get a bit overwhelming but you can simply settle down with a synth you love and enjoy the experience without venturing into the complex ways Syntronik can mesh them all together for you.
